Blogging has many potential benefits for students. For one, it is all about writing, and the more writing students do, the better. A blog can be a safe space for students to find their voices and learn how to engage and communicate with the world at large. Blogging can be a way for them to use their imagination and creativity to create content that they are invested in. For me, I think the coolest thing about blogging, and what I would hope my students would find, is that blogging is really fun. Writing through a blog lets you really showcase your personality and style. The way you can customize and use images and videos and color make a blog a unique, personal expression and students will appreciate their teacher making room for this within the class. I can only imagine how I will be surprised and pleased by seeing sides of my students that I never get to witness otherwise. I am really looking forward to finding a way to include blogging in my classroom.
